Stages of Decay Dura Jerry Arm

Lifecast male half arm where each finger illustrates one of the five stages of human bodily decay. Arm is weighted at the base to stand upright.

Thumb - Stage 1: Fresh stage- Still looks fairly lifelike but rigor mortis, cellular decay and digestion and  organ decomposition occur.

Index Finger - Stage 2: Bloat -Bacteria and gasses cause the body to swell and livor mortis causes discoloration.

Middle Finger - Stage 3: Active Decay - The body breaks down, loses fluids, and is eaten by bacteria and maggots.

Ring Finger - Stage 4: Advanced Decay - only the toughest tissues remain and the finger has a leathery, mummified look.

Pinky Finger- Stage 5: Dry Remains - skeleton and little else remains.
